Mikael Owunna is a multi-media artist, filmmaker, and engineer from Nigeria. His work aims to explicate an emancipatory vision of potential that pushes individuals beyond all borders, constraints, and frontiers by combining visual media with engineering, optics, Blackness, and African cosmologies.

The Nasher Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Equal Justice Initiative, Duke University Pratt School of Engineering, and the National Taiwan Museum have all collected Owunna’s work. His work has also been published in the New York Times, CNN, NPR, VICE, and The Guardian, among other publications. He has given talks at Harvard Law School, World Press Photo in the Netherlands, Tate Modern in the United Kingdom, and TEDx.
