As an artist, my aim is to explore the concept of identity through figurative portrait art. I use the facial features of my subjects to convey their emotions and the ideas I want to convey. These ideas are meant to be a conversation or dialogue between the subject, the viewer, and myself. Through the use of color, culture, and individuality in society and community, my art explores various aspects of identity. While the colors in my art may seem chaotic and disorienting at first, they ultimately convey precision and depth when viewed as a whole. I want my art to engage the viewer and invite them to invest in the subject, the idea, and the narrative being presented visually. I also hope that it will allow viewers to project their own character and experiences into the work, making it a reflection of their own lives. By capturing the essence of my subjects, I aim to show the world their struggles and the enduring hope of the human spirit.
