I grew up near Atlanta, GA, but was born in Virginia Beach, VA. As a child, I had severe asthma difficulties, so I spent the most of my leisure time indoors painting, playing video games, or working on a computer.
I do practically all of my work on a computer. Surprisingly, I haven’t picked up a paintbrush in about seven years. Instead, I create my work on an art tablet display (an XP-Pen 15.6) with a variety of tools (mostly Krita). Starting in high school, I chose to produce digitally rather than traditionally for a variety of reasons. We didn’t know if we’d be able to purchase materials, but the lights were virtually always on. I could produce as long as we had power
My art allows me to delve into the depths and complexities of my inner self, spirituality, political ideas, race, and place in the black community. My style evolved naturally, although it’s mostly defined by experimentation and play, with the sole constant being that I’m always inconsistent. In my work, I strive for a level of resonance that persists regardless of whether the viewer fully comprehends what they’re witnessing.
